Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 本片改编自足立绅同名小说，电影版是包括未公开场景的导演剪辑版本。年过40却依然不受欢迎的编剧、没有收入的废柴丈夫·柳田豪太（风间俊介 饰），与吃软饭一样的丈夫和儿子一起维持生活、拒绝丈夫的邀请、还破口大骂的可怕妻子·柳田千花（MEGUMI 饰），两人之间展开了又笑又哭的夫妇故事。

　　生物学教授詹尼西尔（Pierre Brasseur 饰）因一次车祸使心爱的女儿克莉丝汀（Edith Scob 饰）面容尽毁，女儿伤愈后只能终日戴着瘆人的白色面具，痛苦非常。爱女心切且心怀内疚的詹尼西尔与助手路易丝（Alida Valli 阿莉达•瓦莉 饰）伪装克莉丝汀失踪、死亡的假象，暗中诱拐与女儿年龄相仿的女性，将其麻醉后剥掉面皮，移植到克莉丝汀脸上。　　但手术接连失败，牺牲者也不断增加。亲眼所见诸多同龄女孩惨遭杀害，克莉丝汀心中痛苦不已。另一方面，众多女孩失踪的案件也引起了警方的注意，他们逐渐将目标锁在疯狂的詹尼西尔身上……
